I'm still here!
To be honest, it's a lot harder to be honest than I thought it would be. =)
I haven't been doing the best... On Sunday, I went to the movies with a friend of mine and we avoided all the treats there, but as soon as I dropped her off at her house, I stopped by the store on my way home and my will faltered. First, I saw the donuts, next I saw the Whoppers... I bought both! It didn't do as much damage on my progress as I thought it would though. I think it worked out relatively well because I felt so guilty after that I didn't eat much else the rest of the day. I think the problem was that I didn't have anything for breakfast so the grocery store was just a bad idea in general.
I'm stepping back up!
This weekend will prove difficult because I have a friend that flew in last night, and my sister's husband is flying in tomorrow to go to PAX Prime. We will be spending the weekend downtown but I will do my best to pack healthy choices and do lots of walking to make up for anything I do end up eating downtown.
Wish me luck!

Day 10 - 170
Standing still.
But not discouraged!
I keep letting distractions tear me away from my goal, but I have taken some action to keep my self focused.
1.) Stop saying "try" all the time. Take Yoda's advice and just do it!
2.) Purchase lots of fruit. I like fruit. What I don't love is having to throw it away when I don't eat it fast enough and it seems to always spoil before I can get to it. I have a well paying job now, I can afford to lose a couple bananas! I know fruits can be bad as well, but I bet they will be a better snack than chips or candy!
3.) Get back into the gym. Sure I missed a couple days, oh well! Today is today and I will do my best to make it successful!
Yesterday, I did my weights routine. I tried out a new machine and it was a bit intimidating because I didn't know how it worked but that will make the next time even easier! Once I nail it down a bit better, I can post my weights routine. I am going to alternate between cardio days and weight days (except on the weekends where I will do a little of both with my boyfriend). I feel sore today, but it just reminds me of my success! Despite what the scale says, I know I made a good move yesterday.

Day 7 - 169
A bit of a set back...
Yesterday, I skipped the gym after work so I could shower before everyone came home from work. I also ate some cookies because they are SO delicious! But what I really needed to do was just eat 1 cookie instead of 4. I am not too ashamed because I know that I can step back into the gym today and 4 cookies is less than 6 or 10 so I did exercise some self-restraint!
Today, I will just work on weight lifting in the gym with maybe a short 5-10 minute warm up on the elliptical. I am thinking of maybe rotating between weight and cardio days.
Tomorrow, I am heading to downtown Seattle with my boyfriend to help him apply for University of Washington. I am so excited for him and I am jealous that he gets to go back to school. My coworker graduated from UW so she gave me some tips on cool places to check out on campus. I hope that we will be able to get some nice walking in and afterwards, we will go on a picnic date at the park. So, no workout tomorrow and the meals might be a bit different! The weather forecast is high 70's and sunny, sounds perfect!

Day 6 - 168
Ups & Downs!
This weekend was a bit of a flop but I am glad to see that it didn't affect my progress. My boyfriend and I did not get a chance to work out like we wanted.
One problem was that I was on-call, and I didn't feel like leaving the house after I went to the movies with my friend (well, almost). We got all the way to the parking lot and I got a phone call that there was a problem with our website and I had to go back home and fix it.
Another problem my boyfriend and I have is that he likes to work out in the evening while I like to work out in the morning. His reasons is that he doesn't feel well in the morning and needs time to wake up. My reasoning is that I want to get it done and over with in the morning so I don't have time to think of excuses and can enjoy the rest of my day.
With all excuses aside, I still ate relatively well and controlled my portions. I have not given up and next weekend we will try it again (both the movie & the workouts). Posting blogs on the weekend may be spotty at best so I apologize in advance. I hope to get better at it!

Day 3 - 170
Stalled! I was really hoping that the first week would be really successful so I could get a good momentum, but sadly I may have screwed it up a bit yesterday. My boyfriend had a bag of chips out that he wasn't going to finish so I finished off the bunch at the bottom. It couldn't have been more than 300 calories, but that may have been what pushed me to the break-even point. I've found that unless I have a >500 calorie deficit, my body just equalizes and stays the same. It is also possible that I just have a terrible metabolism but either way, I need to lower my calorie intake for me to see results.
My boyfriend is going to start going to the gym with me on the weekend! This Sunday we are going to be pretty busy though so we moved our gym date to Friday. I'm still going to go to the gym on my own after work and do a double work out today! Maybe that will counter-act my bad behavior yesterday...
I am also considering changing up my breakfast tomorrow because I think it might be a bit too heavy. I made it the heaviest meal of the day because for one, its delicious, and secondly, it keeps me full(ish) until lunch. I think I may reduce it to 1 egg over-easy and 1 slice of toast which would lower it from about 413 calories to about 230 calories.

Strawberry Jam
Toast

Day 2 - 170
Success on Day 1!
Last night was difficult because my boyfriend made steaks, which is a bit heavier than my initial dinner plans. I also get so darn hungry! Its a real struggle after dinner is over and I have to fight with myself not to eat any snacks. I have found that I wake up a bit easier and eager for breakfast when I resist the night time snacks though.
My work out routine yesterday was also a bit shorter than I had planned it would be. I haven't been to the gym for a couple weeks so my endurance was lacking. I pushed it for 20 minutes, and did a 30 minute walk at lunch. In the future, I would like to get up to 40-60 minutes of cardio + weight lifting so I have a ways to go. I will give myself a break and ramp up slowly.
Another problem that I have, that I need to work on, is I get really anxious when I work out after work. I feel like there are so many things I want to get done before my boyfriend gets home, but when I work out for the full 40-60+ minutes, I come home after he does and I want to spend my time with him and the errands/chores go to the wayside. We just started living together in January, and he didn't start working until June-ish so we are still getting into our working rhythm.
You will find that I eat and do almost the same thing everyday. It keeps it simple, easy to remember, and harder to mess up!

Day 1 - 172
In my head, I think of all the right words to say but when it comes to putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) I feel like it never comes out like I had imagined.
Today, I am going to start my journey to lose weight. I hope that with this blog, I can hold myself accountable and not allow myself to slip back. I know that there were be struggles but by keeping my thoughts public, I will stumble and keep climbing instead of falling all the way back down.
I will post my food and exercise everyday to the hope that someday, if I am successful, someone like me can see this blog and know that they can be successful too.
I promise to be honest and am open to any questions and suggestions!
I know this will be difficult, but there is nothing more satisfying than completing a challenge.

2 scrambled eggs
1 slice of toast
Snack:
String cheese
Sunflower seeds
